Bandhavgarh National Park is also known as white tiger country, this is a small National park, compact yet full of game.The forests of Bandhavgarh is most deciduous. Bandhavgarh hill rises 811 meters above MSL surrounding at the mid of the tiger reserve. It is encompassed by many smaller hills separated by gently sliding valleys. Tala is the lowest point in the park which is 440 meters above MSL.
The vegetation is mainly Sal forest in the valleys and on the lower slopes, it changes to mixed deciduous forest on the hills and in the hotter, drier areas of the park in the south and west. Bamboo tress are found in most of the areas in the park. Prior to becoming a National Park, the forests around Bandhavgarh have been maintained as Shilagarh or game preserve,of the Maharaja of Rewa in 1947. When to Visit Bandhavgarh National Park :
From mid October through June end are the appropriate time to visit Bandhavgarh National Park as the park remains open in this time period for the tourist. The park is kept closed during monsoon season i.e from July till mid October.

By Rail :
The nearest railway station near Bandhavgarh are Jabalpur (164 Km), Katni (102 Km) and Satna (120 Km) on the central railway and Umaria (35 Km) on the South Eastern Railway.
Airport :
Jabalpur is the most suitable place to start for Bandhavgarh as it is the nearest airport. Only 190 kms away from Bandhavgarh it is well air-connected with Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Tourism Zones at Bandhavgarh :
For the convenience of visitors and management Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve has been divided into five tourism zones namely Tala, Magadhi and Khitauli. Out of the three zones Tala is the premium zone which is always on high demand and also very expensive in terms of the entry charges. Magadhi is also very promising zones while Khitauli is quite new.
Flora and Fauna :
The park is mostly covered with Sal forest otherwise it is a mixed forest. Grassy meadow patches are also visible in the valley area of the park alongthe nalahs or the flowing streams. It has reach wildlife and all the animals are found in the park which are typical of this habitat in the central India
Wildlife at Bandhavgarh : In Bandhavgarh 22 species of mammals and 250 species of birds are found. Rhesus Macaque and common langurs are considered as the primate group. Asiatic Jackal, sloth bear, Bangal fox, ratel, grey mongoose, striped hyena, jungle cat, leopard and tiger are the carnivorous animals found in this park. Wild pig, spotted deer, sambar, chausingha, nilgai and chinkara are the artiodactyls which are commonly sighted in Bandhavgarh national park. Bird life in Bandhavgarh :
A rich bird life flourishes in the vegetation surviving along the streams and marshes. Those commonly visible are grebe, egret, lesser adjutant, sarus crane, black kite, crested serpent eagle, black vulture, egyptian vulture, common peafowl, red jungle fowl, dove, parakeet, kingfisher and Indian roller.
The reptilian fauna include krait,cobra, viper, stasnake, turtle, python and various lizards including varanus.
